about

In October 2021 I was lucky enough to attend a brilliant music networking conference in Wales with two cohorts of English Folk Expo mentees. It was hectic and stressful but the moment Katy Rose Bennett started her set with her a capella choir (The Frankley Beeches) in The Old No. 7 bar in Wrexham it was like two years of pent up worry drained right out of us.

lyrics

Here in my hotel room doing my upmost to cry
Praying for tears to fall
How could I have known then burdened by best western fatigue That the sweetest release was in your call
In old number seven, oh it was heaven to me
Five lonely voices echoing on only kitchen tiles
Alone on a hill for now
Finally they gathered they sang what we needed to hear But we didn’t know somehow
In old number seven, oh it was heaven to me
Voices fall on timbered walls and I hold on tight The sermon swells, how could you tell tonight
In old number seven, oh it was heaven to me
